The Polish economy beyond the era of low-cost competitive advantages. What will drive future growth?

25 November 2026 • 09:00 - 10:30

Thematic scope

The economic model based on low costs, hard work, resourcefulness, and the straightforward adoption of foreign technologies is reaching its limits. What role should research, universities and research institutes, the R&D sector, technology, and skills play in the new model? Are Polish companies ready to base their competitiveness on knowledge rather than solely on operational efficiency?

Equally important is the question of whether the Polish research system is currently ready to engage in meaningful collaboration with business. How can financial, regulatory, and organisational incentives be designed to reward the practical application of research findings, research commercialisation, joint projects with companies and tangible economic impact? How can we build an ecosystem in which collaboration between academia and business becomes a sustainable driver of growth?
